I think it would the smartest thing to do, since it would make Ukraine's army into a professional army like in the rest of the civilized world.

I don't think so because ucraine depends more from russia than europe! Becoming a Nato country will make the relations between russia and ucrainia brokens!

well that is why Ukraine SHOULD join NATO so it won't depend on russia as much. russia is a death trap, and we should get out of it, not get deeper.

Ukraine has many advantages if it joins NATO,the most important being that it will be more secured from the covetous eye of its big brother Russia.
other than this Ukraine then may enjoy the combined military exercises which will strengthen the ukrainian army...it will enjoy the mutual relations with many countries(especially the member countries) rather than only with one country Russia.
